There are times when people feel their opinion are more valuable than that of others. Thereby, treating others opinion like it's worthless and doesn't make sense, there is a saying: "opinion are like assholes, everyone has one but they think each other stink." What make you think your opinion have sufficient worth than that of other, whatever belief or thought you support is as relevant to u as mine is to me. Americans believes their culture is the best and British would believe the same about their culture.
The worst of it all is on social media, i feel people just have little or no tolerance for others opinion on social media. They hurl abusive word at each other when they feel your view on an issue is not congruent. It is just ridiculous the name calling and harmful word they use. If you feel someone view doesn't tally with your i don't think there's need to bash the person, what point are you proving by being rude, there're other way to make your view heard and eventually convincing the person.
When does opinion became harmful and derogatory. Is it when we give criticism; how are we suppose to handle criticism when it comes in form of ridicule. Are you to overlook it when someone call you ugly or a dumb person as their opinion of you. Some people would possibly fight you because your opinion is preposterous to them.
A girl came to buy grocery at a store, she was elegantly dressed; two guys came in after she walked into the store. One of them called her; she turned and to their surprise they saw tribal mark on her face, without carefully thinking about it the other one told her that she would have been beautiful if she didn't have the tribal mark however, according to him: "you fit file this stupid mark from your face. if not no better man fit marry you na only agbero go fit come marry, see as you dress fine na this mark come spoil your face chai.. you fight lion." In his opinion only a tout can marry a girl with tribal mark because it it perceived to be local.
people should accept others opinion, be tolerant, and open minded about it without assuming it's insignificant. However, people should also learn to have sound judegement, fair criticism and be objective when they voice out their opinion.
